The world of work has changed and continues to change.

Career can no longer be viewed in the context of a single lifelong career but instead, as a series of shorter learning cycles triggered by internal and external stimuli. The traditional career ‘path’ is more like a ‘lattice’ with career moves being diagonal, horizontal and even tangential, and influenced by competence in transferrable skills and by internal work values.

The ‘job for life’ has been replaced with a new psychological contract, characterised as short term and transactional, in which individuals and organisations trade performance for the development of marketable skills. In this context, effective career development is the result of a reciprocal interaction between individual and organisation.

Qualified career professionals within Future Potential work with you to facilitate effective career development and planning at both organisational and individual level, helping ensure that individuals have the skills and mindset to successfully manage their career and that organisations attract and retain the right calibre of employee, motivated to achieve.

Perhaps Denise’s greatest legacy at ETI was the delivery of a Career Development Programme, a series of workshops created as part of the wind-up process of the company. They encouraged individuals to take responsibility for the development of their careers and ensure they were equipped and empowered to make strategic career choices. Denise’s ability to understand the unique requirement for each individual also resulted in a variety of tailored programmes including coaching sessions and detailed 16PF feedback. These were well received and appreciated by staff at all levels within the organisation. I have no doubt the Development programme was a major contribution towards staff retention at ETI during a period of considerable uncertainty.

Denise helped me to understand how to be mindful about the decisions I made and where I was heading. I was able to separate the things that I felt like I should be doing versus the things that really corresponded with my core values and gave me a sense of purpose. I really feel these conversations were pivotal in shaping my career.
